Repair machinery or mechanical equipment. **Essential Responsibilities:** Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble. Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts. Replace broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs; preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops. Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** Shop environment, in which mechanical equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components. Must be able to stand and bend for long periods. Must be able to push and test vehicles and heavy objects. Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.Must be able to read, write and speak English. + Must be available to work any shift.
