Purpose:
Provide leadership direction, training, and hands-on assistance to meet and/or exceed department expectations. Take charge of all Machine Shop processes by assisting in planning, organizing, recommending manufacturing strategies, and managing employee time, efficiency, and output.
Essential Functions:
Lead and monitor daily Machine Shop operations, including the quality of machined parts, machine run times, employee output, and address all bottlenecks and distractions accordingly.Keep Production Supervisor informed of all concerns and/or issues, in a timely manner.Update and manage Key Performance Indicator board. Schedule daily stand-up meetings with Machine Shop employees. Document and drive actions for KPIs that are not meeting target.Provide direction to employees with regards to safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and housekeeping.Must assist others in the resolution of problems and issues.Must set-up and operate Conventional and/or CNC Machines at highest level for production of aerospace and industrial components.Able to adjust and/or modify machine programs to bring parts into tolerance.Use inspection equipment to complete in process inspections and first article reports.Perform basic machine maintenance, as required.Responsible for running multiple machines simultaneously, as needed. Must assist others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.Must train employees on procedures, processes, and revision updates.Comply with all environmental policies and procedures.May assist with interviews for new employee candidates.May be asked to open/close the shop daily.While this list is representative of essential job duties, it is not an all-inclusive list of duties required to perform this role. Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required8 years of consistent machining experience CNC or Conventional mills and/or lathes.Ability to demonstrate intellectual skills through analytical reasoning, problem solving skills, and innovative solutions.Ability to read and understand all levels of blueprint features and machine shop routers.Able to read, understand, and edit G and M code programming (CNC only).Capable of leading a team of employees and is result oriented.Ability to recognize and correct unsafe work conditions, situations, behaviors, and potential safety concerns.Can handle multi-tasking, in a fast-paced work environment.Demonstrates a positive, “can-do” attitude.Effective communication skills (verbal and written)Must be able to work scheduled overtime, as required.Employment opportunities for positions in the United States may require use of information which is subject to the export control regulations of the United States.
