Machining Tech I, 2nd Shift

Basic Qualifications:

Willing to learn or have a working knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principles    Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Physical Demands:  

Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)  Must be able to stand for long periods of time  

Preferred Qualifications: 

High school diploma or GED preferred  One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of measuring instruments and gages for their operation   Read and interpret blueprints   Understand the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

After set-up by others, operates various standard and specialized machines to precision tolerances and maintains set-ups completed by others.  Performs minor adjustments and tool changes.               Operates one or more machines according to crew size called out on work order.                    Performs typical operations as: Loading parts/material into bins, hoppers and feeders; removing finished parts; and operating switches, pedals, and levers, uses standard gauges to check part Observes operations for malfunction or improper processing; corrects or reports them as needed. If the malfunction cannot be corrected, stops the process and contacts supervisor. Performs other related tasks in departments to which assigned such as: Assembling, drilling, deburring, sorting, counting, etching, stamping, recording of parts processed and housekeeping Required to check multiple operations on a part, such as: O.D., I.D., overall height, thread gauging, perpendicularity gauge, etc.  Reads micrometers, indicators, plug gauges, and thread gauges. Reads work order routers and related blueprints, sets-up and maintains S.P.C. charts. Must have an understanding of cutting tools, drills and taps                               Performs required S.P.C. to establish machine capability for all machines in the department.  Responsible for submitting “first article” to print.  Assist factory supervision and leaders in the training of machine operators. Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.      Keeps work area clean, safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis. Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.

Knowledge and Skills

Able to read/interpret part drawings, use quality tools (calipers, mics, comparators) are preferred. Mechanical experience preferred. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
