Job Title: Machining Technologist (Special Rate)

Specifically, you can expect to: Set up, operate and adjust various lathes, milling machines, boring and turning machines, cylindrical and surface grinder, planers, EDM’s, balancers, gearing machines, special universal grinding machines, rotary head milling machines, boring mills, etc. to perform precision machining operations on details of dies, jigs, fixtures, miscellaneous tooling, parts for repair, prove design parts, experimental, and / or research parts.

The successful candidates will also Use a variety of special equipment and attachments as required. Determines methods and procedures including necessary calculations applicable to the setup of machines and performance of required operations. Improvises machine setups. Provides operating instructions and improvises complicated set ups for experimental prove design and metallurgical sample parts. Lays out intricate parts and plans subsequent machining and hand fitting procedures. Performs bench work if necessary, using scrapers, chisels, files, precision laps, modeling grinders, and all types of precision gauging tools and instruments. Adheres strictly to blueprint specifications without the aid of established procedures, improvise all tooling needs. Uses advanced mathematics and trigonometry. Evaluates results so as to determine the feasibility of jobs for production. Assists process engineers in developing manufacturing process improvements and manufacturability analysis. Develops manufacturing processes for new materials, carries through to completion the development, construction and / or fabrication of all kind of experimental parts to test engineering theory and design.

Top Candidates will have the ability to achieve top rate in this classification, the individual must be capable of assisting and consulting other to resolve problems.
