Northrop Grumman is in need of a Machinist to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility.

Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Note – this is a Second shift position. Second shift positions are eligible for an added 10% shift differential in pay.

Job Responsibilities:

Set-up and operating CNC and conventional machine shop equipmentAbility to use lathes and mills to produce parts per drawing and/or written technical specificationsMust be able to work with minimal supervisionWilling to work with explosives

This position can be filled at either the Machinist 2 or Machinist 3 level, depending on years of experience and qualifications.

Basic Requirements – Machinist level 2

High school diploma or equivalent educationMinimum 2 years of experience working in a machine shopMust have the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, GD & T, and other engineering specificationsMust have working knowledge of shop floor mathematics and measuring tools/equipmentAbility to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grindersMust be able to use basic hand tool and precision measuring instrumentsAbility to lift up to 50lbsCandidate must have a willingness to learn and possess a positive team working attitudeExcellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skillsCandidate must demonstrate the ability to work safely and concern for the safety of othersAbility to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite

Preferred Skills:

Associates DegreeAbility to program and set-up Mazak lathes, mills, and integrex machinesExperience with Proto-Trak lathes and millsExperience with EDM equipmentExplosive training

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.  Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
