Element has an opening for an entry level Machinist. The Machinist will be responsible for the precision cutting and fabrication of testing specimens and other related material. The position duties include sample preparation of materials for testing to automotive specifications and procedures. The role must maintain high quality work with attention to detail while ensuring personal productivity, and efficiency. Good communication skills are required, along with a strong work ethic, and positive attitude. The successful candidate will thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment. 

 

Responsibilities Uses cutting equipment, lathes, and CNC to prepare specimens for testing as dictated in customer specificationsDesigns, sets-up and performs a variety of machining tasks according to customer specifications and requirementsRequires little supervision and technical input of a Department Manager, Principal Machinist, Project Coordinator or EngineerMaintains equipment and schedules preventative maintenanceVerifies samples dimensions meet requirements using items such as calipers, go-no go gauges and calibrated software Skills / Qualifications HS diploma or GED certificate required; College or vocational school coursework or degree welcomed0-6 years of experience in a machine shop environmentDepth of understanding related to machining concepts, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts desiredWorking knowledge of machine shop safety protocol a plusProficient computer skills (basic data entry and search skills)Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
