Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Machinist to join our Maintenance team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Complete scheduled work assignments on machinist equipmentResponsible for fabrication of parts using lathes, mills, etc. from engineering designsComplete walk-in jobs as needed for maintenanceUse a computer to keep up with job assignments, schedules, labor and material trackingAnswer the phone and record necessary information as jobs come in during the shift

Required Qualifications

One-year diploma from college or technical school in machine school technology or two or more years of verifiable full time job shop machinist experienceStudy blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, parts required and setup requirements  Proficient at creating new CNC programs on MAZAK Machining center utilizing smooth G control with conversational programming or manual G and M code programming and edit and modify existing programs as needed.Possess and utilize strong skills in performing mathematics and basic trigonometryAccurately use precision measuring instrumentsDemonstrated proficiency in the operation and set-up of milling machines, lathes, variety of sawing operations, grinding, drilling, and tappingPerform common operations of machining to include turning, milling, boring, grinding, threading, tapering, knurling.Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machiningDial in independent jaw chuck set-up, dial in a milling machine vise or other fixtureSelect, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapersCalculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.  Enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control.Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as requiredComplete paper work and data entryDevelop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricatedConfer with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problemsWillingness to learn new technologies, shop procedures and be adaptable to changeDemonstrate workplace behavior that is consistent with company policies and valuesMust have or be able to obtain a Lift Truck LicenseCommunicate job information to accomplish work tasks with solid verbal and written communication skillsMaintain good attendance as defined by company and/or department policyPractice good personal hygiene and maintains a clean work areaExercise personal safety on the job and demonstrate a commitment to the safety of others and our products

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of Machinist experience in a job shop environmentExperience operating welding and cutting equipmentMachine assembly experienceMetal fabrication experienceStrong skills with SolidWorks or other CAD software
