**Job Title: Machinist** **Job Description** We are seeking skilled Machinist to join our dynamic team at a large job shop located in North Charleston, SC. This role involves working on large shafts for aircraft carriers and large ships. The ideal candidate will have experience in a job shop environment, working with large equipment, and preferably, in-place machining experience. **Responsibilities** + Set up and operate manually controlled machines for skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment. + Use precision tools, Manual & CNC machinery, and equipment such as lathes, milling machines, horizontal boring mills, vertical turning lathes, grinders, drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment. + Fabricate, machine, and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal. + Properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. **Essential Skills** + 3-5 years of machining experience. + 6-10 years of total job shop experience. + Experience with lathe, mill, and running and operating manual lathe, grinders, boring mills. + Ability to read drawings, understand fractions, ratios, and proportions. + Comfortable using machining tools such as calipers and micrometers. + Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. + Experience in large part machining, including ship propeller shafting and ship steering gear. + Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools. + Micrometer and caliper experience. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
