JOB TITLE/LOCATION:

 Machinist I – Baldwin Park, CA

DESCRIPTION:

 Machinist I assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product. Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machine for the process. Contacts supervisory personnel when raw product, events or finished products are not conforming to required standards. Assists supervisor in machining adjustments and operational improvements. Performs machinist work involving fabrication of specialized parts. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on machines and related systems. Maintains strict tolerance requirements in the manufacture of parts. Operates equipment used with lathes and mills to quality assurance specification. Fabricates all required parts and similar items as needed. Advise management of pertinent changes in working conditions or significant information that may present short and long term impacts on inventory and overall output. Records machine data for reporting and record-keeping purposes. Prepares documents as required to perform inventory or audit. Computes amounts of workload capacity and running time. Confers and corresponds with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Contributes to periodic updating of the procedures manual and reference notebooks. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory or management personnel.

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:

1-2 years performing inspection of assemblies (e.g. routine process inspections)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Must be able to read engineering blueprints and planning. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, strong multitasking ability, and an interest in learning new skills/technologies required. Must be well organized, works well with others and flexible. Broad skill set who is not afraid to tackle multiple tasks. Knowledge of tooling speeds and feeds offsets and minor program changes. Ability to prove out programs. Perform tool adjustment as required. Work with Engineering to make tooling. Able to use inspections tool to inspect parts. Perform ancillary activities and other duties as assigned.
