**Job Title: Machinist**
**Job Description**
This position is a CNC machinist. You will be responsible for the production of parts in a job shop, specifically working with vertical mills. The role requires performing 3-5 setups/changeovers a day. You will need to read blueprints, gather the necessary materials, and produce parts. Additionally, you will perform first article inspections using quality tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, ensuring parts meet a tolerance of +/- .001. You will be working on vertical mill machining centers.
**Responsibilities**
+ Read and interpret blueprints to produce parts.
+ Perform 3-5 setups/changeovers daily.
+ Gather necessary materials for production.
+ Conduct first article inspections on parts.
+ Utilize quality tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
+ Ensure parts meet a tolerance of +/- .001.
+ Work on vertical mill machining centers.
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum 1-2 years experience as a machinist.
+ Ability to read blueprints.
+ Previous quality inspection experience, ideally with micrometers.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous experience in a job shop.
+ Experience with large parts.

**Work Environment**
This shop employs 40 people and produces custom parts for the agricultural, transportation, and shipping industries. The role is on a 2nd shift flex schedule from Noon to 8 PM, with initial training on day shift. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toe shoes.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, Indiana.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
