**Job Description**
The Machinist analyzes specifications to operate all mold shop machinery to fabricate thermoform molds, tooling, and closure and label machinery parts, as well as repairing existing molds and hi-die cutting knives.
**Responsibilities**
+ Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations for fabrication, and setup requirements of workpieces and machine tools.
+ Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to fabricate parts and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
+ Calculate and set controls to regulate machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, and/or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control data.
+ Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
+ Verify and document critical dimensions and alignment of thermoform tool and component assemblies per inspection procedures using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring instruments.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with tool and die, mechanical machining, grinding, fabrication, blueprints, mills & lathes, micrometers, calipers, and drill press.
+ Ability to communicate one-on-one and in groups, and to understand instructions and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
+ Logical reasoning skills to carry out detailed written and oral instructions and solve problems.
+ Mathematical skills to work with fundamentals of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.
+ Technical understanding of how thermoformed (sheet) plastic is formed.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in working with mechanical machines and fabrication.
+ Skill in using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McDonough, Georgia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
