Responsibilities You will set up and perform machining operations on conventional and NC Machine Tools; You will manufacture, repair, and rebuild parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals and metal alloys; You will utilize precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensions and tolerances, fits and finishes in processing work; You will set up CNC machines using proper tooling components, optical tool setter, gage blocks, micrometers, etc; You will maintain accuracy in accordance with requirements of blueprints, drawings and sketches, work documents, aircraft technical documents, manuals, bulletins, and directives. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen Out Element for this position is the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Applying knowledge of all types of metals, metal alloys, and composite materials used in aircraft structures; 2) Performing machining processes/operations to include planning, laying out and setting-up of work; 3) Using various types of conventional and computer numerical control machine tools to perform machining operations; and 4) Interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, directives, technical specifications and trade mathematics.
