Machinist I Job Code:2024:0402-130 Location:Yuma Proving Ground, AZ FT/PT Status:Full Time Business Sector:Test Range Operations Job Description Machines / fabricates prototype and replacement parts for equipment, machines and weapon systems of various types and alloys. Makes repairs to machinery, mechanical equipment and/or optical equipment. Interprets verbal and written instructions and specifications; planning and laying out of work. Using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; sets up and operates manual and CNC machine tools; machines and shapes metal parts to close tolerances; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining. Demonstrates knowledge of the working properties of common metals. Selects standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment and machines; and making all necessary adjustments to complete repairs. Provides iterative feedback to customers. Shares work progress and information with fellow machinists. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Qualifications Pay Rate: $31.36Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.* Must have one of the following, Machinist Technical school degree/certificate, or applicable military training or 2 years’ experience working in a machine shop environment with CNC machines. * Must have work experience operating and using precision measuring instruments common to the trade. Job Skills Requirements: * Must have the ability and understanding to read blueprints and interpret complex multi-view drawings.* Must have experience operating manual and CNC mills and lathes.
