Magenetic Resonance Imaging (Mri) Technologist - R
POSITION PURPOSE Under the supervision of a Radiologist, appropriately explain exam and position patients to capture quality diagnostic images. Administer intravenous/oral contrast administration in accordance with department policies and procedures. Effectively communicate with patients of all ages as well as always demonstrate compassion and patience. Assists with providing technical coverage 24 hours a day, seven (7) days per week. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED Associate Degree or successful completion program by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI, or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as an MRI technologist (RTMR). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 0 to 3 years LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and ARRT registered in MRI within 1 year of hire.   OR Be certified by the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI, or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as an MRI technologist (RTMR) OR Be certified by the ARRT in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine and/or have appropriate state licensure and have supervised clinical experience in MRI scanning OR Have an associate degree in an allied health field or a bachelor’s degree and certification in another clinical imaging field and have supervised clinical MRI scanning experience. AND BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy (preferred). Basic computer knowledge. Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Operates all department specific equipment associated with the performance of routine and special exams/procedures; demonstrates the ability to recognize and report equipment malfunctions; continuously follows maintenance protocols to ensure maximum equipment performance and minimize down time. Proficiency in the use of all software upgrades is required. Utilizes proper protocols and positioning techniques to maximize image quality and minimize the need for additional imaging. Administers medications in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure. Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department. Assists Radiologists/physicians with special image-guided procedures. Ensure the exam room is set up according to department/physician protocols; sterile technique is required; pre-procedures questionnaires/consent forms/medical history and lab work are reviewed, and documentation is accurate. Must be able to move patients on stretchers, in wheelchairs and on table. Must appropriately label images, document pertinent clinical information and use independent judgment to determine steps necessary to complete each study. Must be able to perform intravenous injections of contrast material according to examination protocols. Must assist with the technical department coverage 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week as needed.
