This job exhibits proficiency in nursing conceptual practice, project management, and excellence in nursing practice. Serves as an integral part of the nursing leadership team and manages Magnet and evidence based practice projects and programs; and exhibits advanced skills through educational, consultant, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, team facilitation activities.

Education

Required – Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Preferred – Master’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience

Required – 3 years of clinical nursing experience.

Required – minimum 1 year leadership experience.

Preferred – previous working experience working with an ANCC Magnet organization.

Certifications

Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

Preferred – Specialty certification in nursing in current area of practice.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Strong skillset managing complex data collection and organizing projects via shared online modalities.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals at various levels across and external to the organization to include: the executive management team, representative of regulatory agencies, medical and business professionals, and departmental staff.

Leadership and conflict resolution skills and ability to promote professional nursing practice, be self-directed and motivated, and exhibit sound judgment in complex situations.

Good time management, organizational, and project management skills and ability to manage complex work and multiple tasks professionally and efficiently.

Ability to work independently and in group environment to accomplish tasks within appropriate deadlines.

Ability to be self-confident and exhibit interdepartmental cooperation.

Ability to work extended hours, longer than 8 per day and travel throughout and between facilities.

Job Duties

Oversees ANCC Magnet recognition program(s).

Promotes nursing excellence and evidence-based, professional nursing practice including championing further education, clinical-ladder participation, and specialty nursing certification.

Assumes responsibility for personal competence, growth, and development.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Oversees and coordinates creation of ANCC Magnet structure and reporting across Assigned areas.

Data collection for ANCC Magnet documentation and developing/coordinating/leading the ANCC Magnet writing team to create the accreditation document.

Develop relationships and work collaboratively across cross functional  sites and disciplines to accomplish shared goals pertaining to ANCC Magnet accreditation.

Cultivates and champions unit and facility level quality improvement, performance improvement, evidence-based practice, and nursing research projects.

Publish and promote nursing projects both internal and external to the organization to promote nursing excellence.

Performs other related duties as required.

Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
 

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.

There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
