Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist Lead

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Director, supervises the accomplishment of MRI services. Assists with management responsibilities including, but not limited to: payroll, budget, equipment purchase, maintenance and repair, Quality Assurance, employee recruitment, retention, counseling/ discipline and inventory. Performs routine and special MRI procedures as necessary.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Associate Degree: Radiologic Technology or a graduate of an accredited certification program in Radiologic Technology

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

3 to 5 years

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T) certification required, plus specialty training and education in MRI. A.R.R.T-MR Required Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an MRI Technologist with progressive responsibilities in supervision. On-the-job training and formal courses in basic staff supervision. Working knowledge of clerical procedures as they are related to scheduling, record maintenance and patient preparation. Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Staff MRI as necessary. Must meet the MRI Technologist’s Essential Job Functions. Responsible for supervising MRI staff; scheduling, training and evaluation. Develops and reviews department policies and procedures; monitors and evaluates department budget; develops and monitors performance standards and assures that the department complies with licensing requirements. Identifies, develops and implements new services to meet the needs of the hospital and patients. Maintains instrumentation within the department. Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department. Administers medications in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure.
