Mail Clerk II - Main Campus

Requirements

The Mail Clerk II, reporting the Mail Room Supervisor, has duties that include but are not limited to:

Greet customers in a courteous and cordial manner to ensure a positive welcoming impression.

Receive, scan, and sort all incoming USPS and external carrier mail and packages for the campus community. 

Deliver mail and packages to University departments in accordance with instructions regarding assigned routes. 

Deliver mail and packages to student locker banks through basic use of package tracking software and locker systems with integrated technology. 

Operate Mail Services vehicles to travel around campus. 

Maintain cleanliness of all Mail Services vehicles. 

Perform other mail and package related duties required to accomplish the department's mission.

Work Interactions

The Mail Clerk II works professionally with other office employees and has daily interactions with Georgetown University faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements and Qualifications

High-school diploma or equivalency

At least 6 months experience in a medium to large mailroom – preference for a university environment

In-depth knowledge of both USPS procedures and third-party carrier procedures, including hazardous mail protocol

Ability to perform timely and accurate processing of student and departmental mail

Proficiency using computers, including word processing programs, spreadsheets, and email

Proficiency entering, transcribing, and maintaining information in written and/or electronic form

Proficiency using mobile phones and/or other mobile barcode scanning technology

Possession of a valid driver license

Availability and willingness to  work overtime when required

Ability to perform the physical requirements of position’s duties with or without reasonable accommodation: Lift, carry, walk, push, bend, and reach; to stand for prolonged periods; and to handle and lift heavy containers and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: [$19.25 USD Hourly]. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
