Job Overview The Mail Specialist is responsible for all assigned mail/material processing functions. These activities include performing courier services as assigned, operating a motor vehicle for collection and delivery of materials, operating powered industrial vehicles including electric and manual pallet jacks, and performing the range of duties to collect, check, and prepare materials for shipment and delivery. Pay Rate: $33.58/hourly Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Perform the full range of tasks required to support mailroom processes Sort mail from numerous sources, both internal and external Pack and wrap classified material Route mail for internal and worldwide distribution Operate computer including learning and utilizing the MDAT tracking software program to dispatch, in-check, and track, controlled material Understand and operate the FedEx PowerShip Dispatch/Tracking system to provide critical Express/Overnight service to support time-sensitive mission requirements Understand and operate the customer facility location system to support all internal mail centers Adhere to written and oral instructions Possess interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers Load and unload commercial/government trucks of incoming/outbound material, to include signing and accounting for material received Comprehend, sign, and follow guidelines for the use of government vehicles. Perform, at times, courier duties for domestic and international travel. Operate, at times, a Government vehicle (requires Class C License). Ability to locate and track customer numbers through computer systems suite. Learn and operate x-ray/bio-hazard equipment/ and perform practical exercises to demonstrate proficiency. Investigate all suspicious items viewed by the x-ray/bio-hazard equipment for clarification. Report suspicious activity and items to the appropriate communications center via the most appropriate means. Separate and segregate any prohibited items from containment and give such items to the owner for return to their vehicle, or for confiscation. Provide proper notice if a dangerous or hazardous item (weapons, explosives, etc.) is discovered Adhere to the established CCS safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school graduate or equivalent GED. One (1) year of experience in a mail handling environment or receiving and distributing materials. One (1) year of Customer Service experience. Experience handling time sensitive materials (confidential and/or urgent documents). Basic mathematical function skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Basic knowledge in computer programs to include (Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook) Interpersonal skills to communicate with co-workers and customers in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Possess mature judgment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to follow written and oral instructions U.S. Citizen. Maintains the required intelligence community level clearance. Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Able to lift 50lbs and group lift 75lbs.
