Mainframe Application Developer

Position Summary As a Mainframe Developer at CVS Health, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and deployment of critical integrated mainframe applications and systems for our claims ecosystem. The Mainframe Developer is essential for ensuring the delivery of business value and that production applications remain stable with excellent performance and optimal scalability. The Mainframe Developer will work in an Agile scrum team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, develop technical specifications, and implement solutions that meet business needs. Expertise in mainframe technologies, such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2, will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our mainframe systems. Responsibilities: + Develop mainframe applications according to customer specifications and requirements. + Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. + Work as part of a team to ensure solutions are designed to fully function in an integrated application suite. + Design and develop solutions that enable applications to perform optimally, and which can scale to meet future business needs. + Perform thorough unit and integration testing, and support QA testing and deployment activities. + Maintaining and enhancing existing mainframe systems; Working with other developers to create high-performance, scalable applications. + Monitor systems to ensure that they are functioning properly. + Analyze and optimize applications, Troubleshooting and resolving issues in mainframe applications. + Create and maintain documentation related to mainframe applications. + Closely interact with project managers, business analysts, and other developers, both locally and remote + Keeping up to date with industry trends and advancements in mainframe. Required Qualifications + 3+ year of experience with the following: + Mainframe development and support, utilizing several of the following technologies: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, SQL, MQ, Xpeditor, Endevor or similar source control application. + Systems analysis + Software design principles and software architecture + Agile delivery methodologies + Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting + 1+ years of experience with large-scale offshore vendor support arrangements Preferred Qualifications + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to manage changing priorities. + Ability to multitask effectively, prioritizing business impact and urgency. + Ability to work in a team environment to deliver projects. + Being a self-starter, who takes initiative with challenging situations. + Experience with mainframe modernization/transformation initiatives + Healthcare experience in one or more of these areas: + Plan setup / enrollment + Claim Adjudication + Member eligibility/enrollment Education + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree **Pay Range** The typical pay range for this role is: $101,970.00 - $203,940.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
