Maintenance and Safety Supervisor
This position supervises and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities, including improving maintenance, automation, and manufacturing processes and developing the maintenance team for optimum efficiency. This position also ensures the physical and mental integrity of each employee while at work by maintaining safe work behaviors, safe work conditions and a safe work environment. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform essential functions. + Directly supervises the maintenance team + Direct and perform the maintenance of physical assets of the plant to insure continued operation and attainment of line effectiveness, yields and costs + Direct and perform the maintenance of building structures and facilities in including utilities. Works on new projects, coordinates maintenance operations during shutdowns. + Manage and support any/all plant equipment and product trials + Coordinate with Engineering team for installations and projects + Support the operations team in reviewing operating standards, process efficiencies, yields and identify improvement opportunities + Develop long-term predictive and preventive plans to improve equipment sustainability, and attainment of process/line effectiveness, yields and competitive costs + Coordinate with Plant Manager to ensure optimized and competitive costs + Ensure compliance with all company, city, state and federal regulations + Ensure compliance to Safety, preventative maintenance policies and procedures + Coordinate safety initiatives with Plant manager and Industrial Manager + Conduct routine team meetings (daily/weekly/monthly as applicable), including continuous improvement routine meeting participation + Ensure efficient, safe and compliant operation of plant facilities; to include electrical, steam, water and waste water functions + Supports the Plant Manager by coordinating the exchanges with the City of Medford for wastewater treatment. Prepare key performance indicators specific to wastewater. + Maintain documentation and performance logs of maintenance employees + Provide yearly reviews for maintenance employees + Maintain the timekeeping system (Kronos/ADP) for the department and SAP + Participate in the development of the 5 S method for the department + Other duties as assigned Responsibility for Supervision This position supervises all employees of the maintenance department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel This position requires <5% travel. Occasionally travel is outside the local area and overnight. Education and experience required + Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or Food Processing related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience + Minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial plant maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing environment + One - two years of increasing safety and environmental experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment + Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership capacity + Ability to use basic shop mathematics, handbook formulas, interpret simple blueprints and drawings, and use a wide variety of tools or precision measuring instruments + Ability to setup, re-tool, operate somewhat complex machines + Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and pneumatic systems + Inventory control experience + Preventative and predictive Maintenance experience + Computer proficiency Desired Education and Experience + CPR/First Aid Certification; + Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; + Five to eight years of general experience in the manufacturing industry; Dairy or food manufacturing + Three to five years of management or supervisory experience; + Knowledge of continuous improvement; + Experience with SAP, OEE and CIM. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use fingers to type. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to or over 50 pounds. Food safety and product quality This position is responsible for supporting the food safety management system and communicating food safety issues to the quality department.
