Maintenance Apprentice 1st Shift

Job Summary

A maintenance apprentice works alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn the skills of the trade. As a maintenance apprentice, your responsibilities are to assist with a variety of duties, including installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines. You may also need to complete classroom or online training about HVAC structures, plumbing, and electrical and mechanical systems and other various types of technology.

 

Responsibilities

Maintains successful evaluations on items such as aptitude, performance, safety, attitude and attendance. Observes and eventually begins assisting senior maintenance team members with planning and performing work requiring a knowledge of electrical, mechanical, robotic, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles of operation. Reads and interprets diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions to perform maintenance and repair work. Uses full range of measuring, gauging, analysis, machine and hand tools to perform maintenance work. Communicates maintenance problems, results, corrective actions, and recommendations to the leadership chain, and to the customer as needed both verbally and written through CMMS work order system and/or by email.  Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company standards or policies. Works with other support groups as needed – engineering, machining, die maintenance, administrative personnel, etc. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership chain.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow maintenance, safety, and quality instructions and compile and record maintenance data Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines and tools, and visually inspect equipment, controls and components Sufficient manual dexterity to operate production equipment, test equipment, tools, and to handle material and components properly Willingness to wear required safety equipment and follow safety rules and procedures The ability to work daily and / or weekend overtime.

Preferred Requirements

Completion of a 2-year technical degree or courses related to maintenance field Mechanical / Electrical experience Programmable Logic Control (PLC) experience  Knowledge of mechanical drawings Diagnostic and Troubleshooting experience Personal Computer and Microsoft Office experience

Physical Requirements: 

Requires constant standing and moving 8-12 hours per day  Must be able to constantly lift and carry up to 35 lbs.  Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and kneel.  Must be able to apply up to 66lbs push/pull force unassisted.  Must be able to reach overhead.
