Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University's A.D. Henderson School is seeking a Maintenance Assistant - Boca Raton, FL.

Alexander D. Henderson University School is a public elementary and middle school on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton

Summary of Responsibilities:

Work order response that includes, but is not limited to, plumbing repairs/maintenance, furniture moves, equipment setups, material relocation, interior and exterior spot cleaning, pressure washing, and supporting custodial staff in the completion of custodial duties.

Facilitate access or accompany third-party vendors, including FAU campus maintenance workers, while on-site, if necessary.

Routine building maintenance that includes, but is not limited to, painting, plumbing, carpentry, air/heating and ventilation systems.

Performing a variety of tasks that require the ability to repair, fabricate, install, service and maintain building facilities and building equipment.

Operate a variety of hand and power tools.

Conduct daily campus walks to ensure buildings and property are safe, secure, and well-maintained, including entrances, fence lines, golf carts, trash items, etc.

Fabrication and repairs/replacement of doors, walls, signs, desks, chairs, counters, shelves and tables, various floor coverings, etc.

Roofs, motors, exit/emergency lights, generators, batteries, smoke detectors, and district vehicles, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and one year of appropriate experience required.

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift and move heavy equipment required.


Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Two years of appropriate experience.

Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical systems, and relevant equipment.

General knowledge of hand tools and power tools.

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.

Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors.

Ability to comply with all safety and health regulations.

Salary:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour. Some nights and weekends as needed.
