Duties Description - Will be required to safely operate and transport equipment including skid steers, tractors, plow trucks, loaders, chippers, stump grinders and other machines.- Will be required to complete manual and semi-skilled work in various DEC facilities. Assignments will include cleaning of toilets/bathroom facilities, building of outhouses and picnic tables, winter roof shoveling, minor carpentry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, equipment operation, chainsaw operation, maintaining roads, grounds and facilities, lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes, shovels and various hand tools. - Must be able to follow written and or oral instructions to complete projects.- Must be capable and willing to operate a personal computer. - Must be well groomed, wear issued uniform, as well as proper safety PPE. Issued clothing and safety gear must be kept clean and presentable. -Must be flexible with your schedule/assignments and be able to change easily and efficiently from task to task.
Minimum Qualifications Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical workunder the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services,such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYSCSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination ofexperience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at aschool, institute, or branch of the Armed Services..*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Programincludes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours oftechnical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours ofon-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled TradesTraineeship.Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no airbrake restriction.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required.Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergenciesMust obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.
