Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesman or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course. Candidates are expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. NYS driver's license.
This position may be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment.
OPERATING NEEDS:
Ability to take direction and operate within a team framework and or work independently to assist and perform semiskilled routine tasks in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical and electromechanical systems. Ability to perform heavy lifting, basic metal fabrication; use oxyacetylene torch, welding, metal cutting saws, shears, breaks and punches. Ability to perform mechanical operations such as hydraulic hose repair and fluid level checking and lubricating and maintaining various motorized equipment. Ability to comprehend and execute written directions and service manual procedures and use of computers for recordkeeping and entering time and attendance. Ability to work at a maximum height of 35 feet with the use of aerial lifts. Willingness to be trained in areas of health and safety and to learn and improve upon work related skills.
