Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for the supervision and general upkeep of the WestCare facilities assigned including all minor repairs—electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs, grounds, etc. Responsible for the purchase of supplies needed for general maintenance of the facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
+ Responsible for the supervision and general upkeep of facilities including all minor repairs.
+ Supervise and perform minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
+ Supervise and perform general painting jobs.
+ Supervise and maintain heating and air conditioning units to the best of his/her ability.
+ Prepare purchase requests for all supplies needed to accomplish general maintenance of the facilities.
+ Communicate with the Renovations Director as to all minor and major repair needs of the facilities.
+ Care for and maintain all equipment purchased by the agency to be used by the Maintenance Department.
+ Maintain a continuous written log of all repair jobs completed.
+ Participation in Quality Improvement activities in an ongoing basis.
+ Provides general oversight of Village South and Guidance/Care Center maintenance needs
+ Collaborates effectively with leadership team to identify maintenance needs for facilities assigned.
+ Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation
+ Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including E-Learning Courses, within required timeframes, and in accordance with the criteria established for this position.
+ Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience and Competencies:
+ A minimum of six months related general maintenance experience with appropriate skills necessary to perform electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, ability to paint, care for grounds and perform other related maintenance tasks is required.
+ Knowledge of equipment, appliances and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
+ Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair
+ Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

+ Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
+ Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials

Working Conditions:
+ Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting
+ Personal Protective Equipment
+ Gloves are worn when cleaning.
+ Gloves are worn when using housekeeping and floor care products
+ Eye goggles are worn when pouring housekeeping and floor product
+ Gloves, mask, gown, eye goggles are used as required for the situation

Essential Physical and Mental Demands of the Job

Physical Demands:
+ Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files). Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques.
+ Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
+ Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
+ Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility.
