Maintenance Electrician
**Job Title:** Maintenance Electrician **Pay Rate** : $40-42/Hour **Location** : East Chicago, IN **Shift** : 3rd shift available **Job Description** As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. Your primary duties will include working with robots, welders, motor control centers, conveyors, air handlers, mixers, presses, hydraulic components, and kilns. You will diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensure all safety policies are followed, and perform preventative maintenance. **Responsibilities** + Install main electrical power supply wiring and conduit for various equipment as directed by management. + Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment per industry standards and electrical codes. + Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, PLCs, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires/cables. + Calculate proper fuse/circuit breaker configuration if not provided by original equipment manufacturer. + Use PCs and other interface equipment to program and diagnose PLCs and electronic equipment controls. + Diagnose and replace faulty hydraulic and pneumatic electrical components of machines and equipment. + Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices. + Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunctions with other maintenance workers. + Ensure all safety policies, including Life Critical Safety Rules, are followed at all times. + Regularly inspect and evaluate electrical and electronic equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. + Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain records on equipment status and maintenance. + Study blueprints and schematics to establish the best method of repair or replacement and determine material/electrical requirements. **Essential Skills** + Electrical troubleshooting + PLC troubleshooting + 3-phase electrical systems + Heavy industrial experience + Ability to read and interpret schematics **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Must pass Ramsay test + Must be able to climb heights (ladders) + 2+ years of experience + Must match culture index to this role **Why Work Here?** Join a company that has recently been acquired by a global leader in their industry, offering opportunities for growth and expansion. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar setting and be adaptable to the conditions. The shift is primarily a Monday-Friday night shift consisting of five 8-hour shifts, with the possibility of weekend shifts that include 12-hour day shifts.
