Job Description

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment and non-clinical equipment.  Maintains inspection and testing records.  Evaluates the condition of systems and equipment and recommends repair or replace actions.  Coordinates maintenance with outside contractors. As on-call mechanic assignment, responds to in-house service calls. Responds to emergency malfunction events. Accesses situation, and takes action to stabilize situation to avoid further damage and make safe.  Documents off-normal incidents.  From diagrams, sketches, blueprints, operations manuals and manufacturer specifications assembles and installs new non-clinical equipment. Identifies and evaluates affected areas for proposed construction and critiques construction plans.  Investigates building service shutdowns, initiates shutdowns and reactivations.  Oversees the installation of building service services and equipment by outside contractors and records deficiencies on punch list.  Participates in system and equipment start-up and commissioning. Utilizes and maintains tools and instruments associated with the building maintenance trade. Maintains maintenance supply and parts inventories, fills out purchase requisitions.  Records time and materials expended on computerized work order system.  Following manufactures and regulatory specifications reviews and updates building systems and equipment and non-clinical equipment preventive maintenance records and schedules. The position actively follows regulatory agency compliance requirements, supports the hospital mission and goal objectives, the department quality improvement and operating goals, as well as customer service excellence principles goals, individually and as an effective team member. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
