Maintenance Engineer - Launch Operations, Project Kuiper
Description Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. We're looking for an excellent Facilities Equipment Electrician with expert experience installing, commissioning and troubleshooting custom industrial equipment in a Payload Processing Facility environment. You will maintain complex controls systems, overhead cranes, and electrical systems to ensure their efficient operations and reliable operational efficiencies. You will be essential in the on-time delivery of hardware capable of achieving mission success as you are directly responsible for all equipment supporting these functions, and will have broad scope and autonomy to fill all gaps between equipment concept and operations. You will lead the charge to develop, improve, review and maintain the preventative maintenance program with primary focus on cranes and electrical troubleshooting. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities - Hands on installation of electrical and control systems with troubleshooting related to a variety of manufacturing equipment - Develop, design, and implement solutions to difficult problems with a sense of urgency - Maintaining and Troubleshooting of overhead cranes - Develop and continually improve Preventative and Breakdown Maintenance for overhead cranes and electrical systems - Work directly with engineering and operation teams on design feedback, commissioning, and ongoing operations - Work across teams to develop clear and concise project details for mechanical, electrical, and machine functionality requirements allowing for expedient installations leading to successful operations A day in the life This is a fast-paced, hands-on, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with leaders in multiple technology areas. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience - Bachelor's degree - 7+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, project engineer or senior electrical maintenance engineer in a manufacturing environment experience or payload processing facility. - Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks. - Valid Driver’s license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria. - Must be willing and able to work with powered lift equipment, i.e. forklifts and aerial lifts at heights > 100’. - With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours (with breaks) - Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport & must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Preferred Qualifications - Experience working with and managing third party vendors - • Minimum 10 years working in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting and maintaining electrical equipment. - • Minimum 5 years maintain or overseeing maintenance on overhead cranes - • Advanced Electrical ability in industrial equipment troubleshooting, electrical subsystems troubleshooting, - • Experience with industrial controls equipment including PCs, PLCs, sensors, wiring diagrams, etc. - • Experience assembling and commissioning custom machinery including cranes, tool balancers, pneumatics, and programmable logic controllers - • Experience with rigging and lifting operations - • Lead electrical and controls activities as required. - • Troubleshooting and Maintaining industrial equipment and machinery in production and development environments Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
