POSITION SUMMARY:
Marathon Petroleum Company’s Michigan Refining Division is seeking an Electric Shop Maintenance Foreman to lead our skilled team of electricians. This pivotal role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of the refinery’s electrical systems, ensuring operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in improving safety, efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position reports to the Craft Maintenance Supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee MPC Electricians to ensure field and shop maintenance work is executed efficiently and adheres to MPC and industry best practicesServe as the site’s electrical safety champion, ensuring compliance with MPC’s electrical safe work practices and NFPA 70E standardsPromote and enforce safe and environmentally compliant work practices by conducting daily toolbox meetings and regular safety sessionsCoach and mentor craft employees to enhance skills and performance, assist with troubleshooting, and ensure understanding of performance expectationsEnsure personnel receive adequate training on procedures relevant to their job tasks, promoting safe and correct execution of maintenance work.Assist in managing the routine maintenance budgetCommunicate daily activities, accomplishments, and concerns to managementIdentify training needs and assist in the development and implementation of craft training programsParticipate in field safety audits and near-miss/incident investigations, following up on safety issues until resolution, and actively engage in safety committeesCollaborate with maintenance planners to develop job plans through technical analysis, field assessments, and identification of resource requirements.Work closely with other maintenance foremen, planners, and reliability engineers to develop repair strategies and maintain equipment reliability for continuous operationsParticipate in daily meetings with Maintenance and Operations supervision to review work requests, schedules, and identify potential issuesAddress barriers to completing planned jobs on schedule and assist with work order close-out and backlog reviewsEnsure thorough completion of repair documentation and maintain accurate corrective and preventive maintenance records for the electrical department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required (must be completed prior to start date)Possesses Michigan Master Journeyman License, equivalent out of state license, or will be required to obtain such license within one year of being employed.Valid driver’s license requiredThree (3) Electrical experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial setting is requiredMust be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the futureFive (5) or more years of electrical experience in related settings preferred.Experience in electrical maintenance including installation and repair of motor control circuits, distribution systems up to 25kV, lighting, UPS systems, and heat tracingKnowledge of electrical hazards and safe work practices per NFPA 70E preferredFamiliarity with SAP and Track software systems is preferred

SKILLS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote) for effective communication and coordinationStrong coordination skills, with experience in interdisciplinary project management involving crafts, operations, environmental considerations, inspection, and engineeringLeadership abilities to conduct and facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholdersExcellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both frontline workers and leadership

SCHEDULE:

Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts (availability for on-call weekend rotations and support for Turnarounds and shutdowns)
