Job Duties and Responsibilities: + Responsible for building and/or installing shelves, cabinets, lab tops, doors and desk keyboard trays; hanging signs, pictures and boards; repairing door hinges, knobs and closures. + Responsible for replacing ballasts, electrical outlets, light switches and light bulbs; hanging light fixtures; repairing or replacing frayed power cords and plugs. + Perform inspections on sinks, drinking fountains, urinals, toilets, unclogs drains, install pipes and perform light repairs of sinks and garbage disposals. + Responsible for replacing floor and ceiling tiles and caulking around bathroom fixtures. + Works with specialized lab support equipment including hoods, incubators, freezers or other lab equipment as assigned. Moves equipment, freezers and furniture. + Responsible for responding to emergency calls and equipment alarms; evaluates problem and makes repairs or requests appropriate specialist. + Maintain adequate inventory of supply maintenance. + Responsible for estimating labor and material costs for work requests; may order supplies. + Performs routine work orders and preventative maintenance tasks, as assigned. + Accurately records daily hours worked and time spent on individual tasks. + Works daily with the Facilities Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Software (Micromain); BAS software, and the Footprints work order system. + May perform related tasks and work of other Facilities department personnel, as required or assigned. + Interprets blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications to determine installation or repair requirements. Expected Salary: $21.00-$25.00 per hour. Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) to four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Preferred Qualifications: + Previous experience working in a research, hospital, or university setting is preferred. + Carpentry and/or welding experience are preferred.
