Maintenance Instrument Specialist

Job Summary

Position Summary: Instrument Specialists maintain, in accordance with manufacturer’s specification, machinery and mechanical equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Require working an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday for routine work activities. Additionally Instrument Specialists must be available to work scheduled or unscheduled (short-notice) hours on nights and/or weekends as needed to meet operating and/or business needs.

The regular work schedule will be 8 hour schedule Monday–Friday, with periodic overtime, in addition to being on an on-call schedule.   There is no relocation with this position.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): 

·         Have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency

·         Be able and willing to work the Pryor Maintenance schedule including overtime as needed.

·         Be able and willing to work in industrial type conditions

·         Be able to lift 55 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, etc

One or more of the following:

·         Completion of Apprenticeship Program in Instrumentation or Electrical OR

·         Associates of Applied Science Technology degree in Electrical or Instrumentation OR

·         A minimum three years’ experience as a Journeyman Level Mechanic in Electrical and/or Instrumentation at a chemical/manufacturing plant.

*Candidates will be required to successfully complete pre-employment testing, interviews, a physical evaluation, a drug/alcohol screen, and training.

Desired Competencies In:

Safe Work practices, National Electrical Code applications, Electrical Distribution systems and specific systems such as Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS and Allen Bradley PLC. Reading and understanding loop drawings and P&ID drawings, managing safety switch calibration program, documenting technical work that is performed and performing calibrations.Reading and understanding complex electrical drawings. Troubleshooting techniques from simple to complex problems and applying relay, PLC and DCS logic in the manufacturing environment.

Position Summary:

Provide support to the achievement of plant manufacturing objectives through the planning and

execution of maintenance programs and projects assigned to the maintenance team.

Installs, maintains and troubleshoots in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, machinery,

mechanical equipment and control systems, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring

devices and testing instruments. 

Systems include Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS and Allen Bradley PLC..Performs all work for which they are trained or have the ability to accomplish in a safe manner.

Responsibilities:

perform (including but not limited to)

Program and troubleshoot PLC and DCS systems and related control devicesInstall, maintain and calibrate basic instruments and control devicesInstall and troubleshoot motors and associated control systemsInstall, maintain and calibrate process measurement and control systemsInstall/troubleshoot conduit systems, electrical wiring and electrical distributions

      equipment associated with basic electrical installations
