Maintenance Intern

Summary: As the Maintenance Technician intern, you will be with a maintenance crew member, assigned to perform maintenance which includes areas of expertise in welding, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting and repair. Your primary goal is to ensure safe and efficient production by responding to changing conditions in a timely manner. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Gain an introductory knowledge of all facets of the ethanol process including cook, distillation, evaporation, dryers, thermo oxidizer, centrifuges, grain system, and water treatment. Learn about the DCS (computer control system) for the plant. Will not be directly responsible for operating the controls but will learn how to interact with the DCS system. Responsible for notifying Production/Plant Manager/Maintenance Manager of any safety or mechanical issues that could impact production Complete all tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Planner Participate in safety programs and ongoing training sessions. Required to follow all safety procedures. Observing Maintenance technicians in all areas of the plant Troubleshooting and repair of pumps/ auto valves Troubleshooting and repair of grain system Performing preventative maintenance Use of predictive technology to Observing E&I technicians in all areas of the plant Moves, sets, calibrates, as needed, controls such as knobs, valves, switches, levers, and index arms, on control panels to control process variables such as: flows, temperatures, pressures, vacuum, vacuum, time, and chemicals, by automatic regulation and remote control of processing units such as: heaters, coolers, thermal oxidizer, compressors, exchangers, and other units. Determines malfunctioning units by observing control instruments, such as meters and gauges. Bench/field test and calibration of pressure transmitters, control valves, RTDs, electric motors, motor starters, Variable frequency drives, PLCs, and control circuits.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required Requires a valid driver's license. Be able to operate utility vehicle. Must be hard-working and self-motivated Detail-oriented; proficient in accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player. Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. No experience necessary.

Job Type: Internship - Part - Time

Shift(s): Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Compensation: $21/hr
