Maintenance Laborer
Summary: Perform a variety of hands-on building maintenance and/or physical labor duties as needs arise. Primary Responsibilities: + Perform any combination of support duties listed below as instructed by supervisory personnel + Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. + Minor repair work as assigned, plumbing, painting and carpentry. + Gather and empty trash. + Service, clean, and re-supply restrooms. + Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. + Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. + Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. + Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. + Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings + Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. + Maintain property exteriors + Operate lawn care equipment and snow removal equipment + Clear and clean debris from grounds and buildings. + Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals. + Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment + Load and unload trucks. + Collect and separate laundry + Operate, load, and unload Industrial Washer and Dryer machines, fold laundry + Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas. + Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements. + Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures. + Additional tasks as directed by supervisor. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: + Must have general mechanical aptitude + Previous experience in basic building maintenance a plus Organizational Relationship: Facilities Coordinator. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Ability to bend and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to push and pull basic machines Working Conditions: Work may be indoors or outdoors for extended periods regardless of weather conditions. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Maintenance Laborer will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
