Position Description

The Maintenance Lead is committed to provide leadership and direction to the maintenance crew in the areas of machine repairs, preventative maintenance, and building maintenance tasks that are mechanical/electrical in nature. The Maintenance-Lead is responsible for documenting all such work, both for internal company records, and to meet legal requirements and manufacture all products in accordance with Refresco’s standard operating procedures and policies.

Essential Functions:

Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including but not limited to hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots and seatbelts while operating forklifts) Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements. Plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles. Ensure all upgrades for equipment are compliant with Occupational Health & Safety Act. Minimize downtime ensuring replacement/spare parts are available through proper preventative maintenance management by adhering to manufacturer’s guidelines. Assist in scheduling maintenance personnel to cover production line maintenance needs. Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related downtime and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for each plant and shares best practices across and within the enterprise. Review daily preventative maintenance (PM) sheets and schedule work accordingly. Review any changes made to production line and make necessary changes to work orders. Coordinate and address equipment failure in a timely manner, in order to minimize the downtime. Support Electricians and Mechanics with machine issues on the production floor. Assist in training of Electricians/Mechanics on production equipment and maintain Lockout/Tagout Program. Coordinate and monitor Preventative Maintenance program. Coordinate parts requirement with Parts Coordinator. Check mail folder in Parts Room for any pertinent messages. Execute the escalation process, if downtime exceeds plant targets and there is an issue solving the problem. Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects, and support initiatives with technical expertise.

Education and Experience:

Electrician or Millwright preferred 5 years production/line machine maintenance experience Line maintenance within a food and beverage production environment preferred

Required Skills and Competencies:

Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes. Ability to read and understand complex diagrams. Capable of MOS (Management Operating Skills) leadership combined with team-player attitude. Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices. Ability to read and understand complex piping diagrams and mechanical drawings. Objective judgment and fact based decision making approach. Strong multi-tasking competency. Proficient in SAP.
