Maintenance Machinist
**Maintenance Machinist** Currently hiring a Maintenance Machinist in the Tinley Park, IL area. Hiring immediately. **Pay:** $30-$40/HR. **Shift:** 1st shift. **Job Description:** • Ability to machine, mill, and grind various types of metals. • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and descriptions to visualize the product and determine materials, tooling, and machines required to fabricate parts. • Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly methods and sequences of operations. • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, surface and tool grinders. Verify conformance of machine parts to customer or print specifications. • Participate 'hands-on' in the operation and set-up of forming machines and stamping presses. • Perform 1st piece part inspections before submission to Quality Control. • Perform geometric shop calculations. • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances. • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and fixtures to recommend design modifications regarding the construction and function of parts. • Rework tooling details and perform skilled fitting, timing, and adjusting as needed to develop piece parts that match blueprint specifications. • Maintain records of tooling lists and apply unique I.D. numbers for company-wide reference. • Organize and maintain company-owned tooling, equipment, and housekeeping. • Participate in the company’s continuous improvement team meetings. • Assist the production department in getting automation machines up and running as required. • Remain current with and adhere to standards addressed in the company’s Quality System Manual, Quality Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions. • Provide training, advice, and recommendations to group leaders and machine operators on the proper set-up and maintenance of dies and tooling. • Perform reworking and machining of new and spare production parts for departments. • Repair maintenance parts as needed. • Verify the accuracy of work using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and various measuring instruments. • Assist in keeping neat and orderly records of work performed and repairs made. • Work with Engineering, Production Team Leads, Managers, Group Leaders, and fellow tradesmen to accomplish the desired result. • Perform work assignments efficiently while being consistent with good safety practices. • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, both stationary and portable manual machine tools such as mills, lathes, drills, saws, and grinders. • Diagnose, install, inspect, and test machinery, parts, and equipment. • Read and interpret schematic drawings, blueprints, and plans. • Dismantle and assemble light and heavy machines and/or equipment (Ring Coilers, Presses, Four slides). **Additional Skills & Qualifications:** + Machining + Milling + Grinding + Blueprint reading and geometric shop calculations + Machine tool operation (lathes, milling machines, grinders) + Tooling rework, assembly and inspection + Use of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) + Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. **About Aerotek:** We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
