Maintenance Manager

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Maintenance Manager at our FPT Schlafer Detroit, MI location. The Maintenance Manager will manage a team responsible for the repair and fabrication of parts and equipment.   

Summary of Responsibilities: 

Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the site.Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of technicians to jobs, reviewing scope of work, identifying and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming schedule viabilityOversees and coordinates shipping and receiving of all parts and materials and associated documentation.Oversees and coordinates purchasing of materials, parts, and services.Manages work order documentation, which includes employee timekeeping, material and part allocation, and outsourced services.Oversees the companywide spare parts inventory for process equipment, such as shredders, balers, NFe recovery equipment, etc., to ensure that we have spare parts availability to optimize up-time.Maintains and processes inventory items according to known or forecasted lead times for upcoming projects as information is communicated from project management or engineering teamArranges and schedules transportation of inter-company transfers (inventory, project assemblies, emergency items, etc.), RMA & RGA goods for repair as well as outsourced services (machining, grinding, heat treat, etc.)Manages inventory parts control system ensuring all work orders are entered to ensure all inventory, and projects are utilized efficientlyDirects transportation of inter-company transfers (inventory, project assemblies, emergency items, etc.), RMA & RGA goods for repair as well as outsourced services (machining, grinding, heat treat, etc.)Schedules repairs of all shop equipment, O/H cranes, saw, press brake, forklifts, compressor, building maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing of both office & shop facilities.

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Diploma/GED.Previous supervisor experience over a maintenance or fabricating departmentPrevious experience in an industrial environment with basic knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Fabrication and welding experience preferredProficient in MS Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)Ability to coach and mentorStrong attention to detail.   Ability to work independently, self motivated and self-directed. Good communication and interpersonal skills Work cooperatively with other employees and the public Must be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather. Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required
