Maintenance Manager

Job Type: Full-Time; Exempt
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
On-Call Requirements: Be available 24/7 for emergencies such as system alarms or equipment malfunctions
Location: Simsbury, CT

Who You Are: 

As a Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the smooth operation of our state-of-art facility. Acting as a critical leader on our management team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and efficiency of the facility while supporting production and safeguarding our capital assets. This role combines leadership, hands-on work, and collaboration across departments to ensure compliance with the GMP standards and uninterrupted operations in the fast-paced cannabis industry. You’ll oversee critical systems like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, lead a dedicated team, and manage contractors to support our production goals. 

What You’ll Do:

Maintain and troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure operational efficiency. Develop and execute a preventative maintenance schedule using tools like MaintainX or similar systems. Build and maintain vendor relationships, oversee service agreements, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime. Supervise a team, including maintenance techs and a sanitation tech, while conducting regular one-on-ones and annual reviews. Troubleshoot, climb roofs, and work on machines to ensure all systems operate smoothly. Work closely with compliance, security, and other departments to meet safety, production, and operational goals. Effectively manage repair, maintenance, and safety budgets while prioritizing efficiency and compliance. Lead safety training, maintain OSHA-compliant records, and ensure facilities meet safety and hygiene standards. Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

Minimum of five years of facility management experience, ideally in cannabis or agriculture industries. Experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting. Proven supervisory experience and team development expertise. Ability to manage contractors and build strong internal and external relationships. Familiarity with asset management software (e.g., MaintainX). Understanding of hazardous material safety and storage. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Composure under pressure and flexibility for on-call emergencies. High attention to detail and self-motivation.

Even Better If:

You have a Bachelor's Degree. You have First Aid/CPR or EMT certification. You have experience working in a GMP-compliant environment. You have IT programming or remote device troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Primarily in a GMP-compliant facility where safety gear is required. You’ll also occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions. This is an active role requiring you to be on your feet, climb a ladder, crawl under low spaces, lift equipment up to 50 pounds, and perform hands-on maintenance. Collaborate closely with lab, cultivation, and production managers to maintain seamless daily operations. Be prepared to respond to emergencies and system malfunctions at any time. Able to use computer/look at screen for long periods of time and have close vision (able to read small print at 20 inches or less). 

 

Connecticut Hiring Range$72,000—$80,000 USD
