Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

Position plans, directs and coordinates the activities of associates engaged in supporting the manufacturing production plant in the functions of central and facilities maintenance, utilities supply (electricity, water, air, and others), reliability, budgeting and spend. Site is composed of 6 buildings across 3 addresses, all within the same industrial complex, comprising approximately 245,000 SF.  

 

Essential Functions

Develops programs, procedures and practices to encourage employees to work safety in an environmentally responsible manner to achieve quality results at acceptable cost levels. Participates in safety, health, and environmental continuous improvement initiatives. Prepares budgets and monitors expenses, including capital expenditures. Maintains the fixed asset inventory for site. Plans, coordinates and oversees annual plant and boiler shutdown activities. Provides technical support for maintenance functions for central maintenance. Manages the Avient Reliability Program and lighthouse element for APEX continuous improvement program. Ensures accountability of team in the completion of corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance planning and execution through utilization of CMMS. Provides advisory support to the plant-engineering group. Maintains plant engineering standards and compliance. Drives the cultural changes necessary for the organization. Resolves personnel conflicts and ensures customer satisfaction, including internal customers. Develops systems and uses applicable tools to improve understanding of maintenance costs and utility measures relative to overall goals of reliability. Oversees the daily operation of the utilities systems for the site. Inspects and troubleshoots equipment as needed. Manages engineering stores functions to properly support plant needs, including maintenance material and contracting needs, process material needs, raw material purchasing, and physical inventory. Manages PIT/forklift and company vehicle fleet. Other projects/duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to walk.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud.  Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
