Responsibilities Manage the facilities trades personnel in the day-to-day operations of the Engineering maintenance program. Ensure that work orders are being properly assigned and completed in a timely manner, and work order paperwork is properly completed. Ensure that National Park Service (NPS) violations and safety issues are given highest priority. Ensure that work orders involving revenue rooms are prioritized to keep downtime and guest inconvenience to a minimum. Conduct continual follow-up on work orders to ensure completion and quality standards are maintained. Provide technical assistance to the trades personnel as necessary. Ensure that Preventative Maintenance Schedules are being followed for all designated equipment Schedule trades personnel according to labor budget and business needs. Interview and select facilities trades personnel. Approve all promotions of trades personnel to higher grade. Complete annual reviews for all assigned personnel and submit to Assistant Director of Engineering - FM for approval. Communicate status of work orders to department managers and directors. Coordinate with Engineering Trainer to ensure all training needs for staff are met in a timely manner. Work closely with Risk Management and the Engineering Trainer, providing risk management and safety training programs for staff. Work with the Director of Sustainability and Engineering Trainer to provide sustainability training programs for staff. Communicate with Parts Clerk on parts availability, inventory and ordering. Ensure that self and staff follow all prescribed Company, NPS and statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, risk management, environmental policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout-tagout and vehicle operation. Follow all prescribed Company environmental policies and procedures. Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned. Assume responsibility for the Engineering department when assigned. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Five years minimum supervisory or foreman experience in building construction, construction maintenance or maintenance engineering type operation. Journeyman certification in one of the following trades; electrician, plumber, carpenter, boiler technician or refrigeration/HVAC. Possess good verbal communication skills with ability to give instructions clearly. Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook and various engineering software programs. Ability to read and understand blueprint and schematic drawings. Familiarity with the International Building Codes and Uniform Building Codes. Thorough knowledge of the main crafts trades including electrician, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boiler technician and refrigeration/HVAC. Experience in writing staff schedules for a seven day a week operation. Must possess physical ability and agility to ascend/descend ladders and scaffolding, enter confined spaces, and tour construction areas. Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
