The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics. In this role you will contribute to the success of the Augusta Soluble & Coffee Roasting Plant by maintaining and operating the plant utilities equipment. This will consist of steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration, cooling towers, rotary screw air compressors, and other typical non-production related utility equipment.
As a maintenance mechanic (utility operator), you will…
Operate ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, steam boilers, condensate return, and other associated plant utility auxiliary equipment. Attend training in ammonia refrigeration if prior experience indicates it is necessary. Assist maintenance team and support all aspects of the maintenance department as needed, including general building and grounds maintenance. Assist with the installation of all new equipment. Complete plant work orders, part lists, and preventive maintenance. Ensure all plant equipment is functioning at optimum levels by performing short-term repairs and long-term improvements. Complete tasks thoroughly and accurately to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Understand and follow established safety guidelines, programs and procedures; and actively works to prevent safety incidents. Support food safety, legality and quality programs. Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, which include working a rotating shift, and working on weekend/holidays. We’d love to hear from people with: Automated manufacturing or distribution environment (5 years) General industrial maintenance and electrical systems (5 years) Experience repairing and maintaining high speed packaging equipment (2 years) High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures Ability to communicate technical and operational issues clearly and concisely Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical plant equipment Ability to understand mechanical and technical equipment manuals Ability to work in elevated areas with ladders, roofs, overhead lights Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision Basic math skills Knowledge of welding, plumbing and machining Attention to detail Ability to plan and prioritize workload Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes.
