Summary This position is a Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-9, working in Cold Bay, Alaska, for the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge. Responsibilities As a Maintenance Mechanic, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform repairs and adjustments to equipment and attachments to equipment; this includes, but is not limited to, replacing chains and belts, cables, lubrication, filter changes, battery checks, changing dozer teeth and safety inspections. Construct, modify, repair building structures and related facilities such as framework, rafters, windows and doors and ensure structural soundness and appropriate appearance of all projects. Operate various vehicles such as light and heavy trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, utility vehicles, skid loaders and other heavy equipment on steep slopes, rocky or soft ground, or other surfaces with rough features. Use and maintain equipment for facility grounds maintenance activities such as chain saws, lawn mowers, power generators, water pumps, power trimmers, and skid loaders.
