Main Ingredients of the Job! 

As a US FOODS® Maintenance Mechanic you will be responsible for partnering with team members across the Transportation department on all clerical functions as required, with special emphasis on DOT rules and regulations compliance and reporting. 

WORK SCHEDULEl Sunday -Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM .starting at $29.00 an hour.

 

Great Maintenance Mechanic are crucial to the US FOODS® team and one of the important faces of our organization. Our Maintenance Mechanic strives for integrity and reliability, while building trusting relationships with team members. 

 

Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (i.e. pallet jacks, high lifts, forklifts, etc. Dock Doors, restraints Dock Plates Freezer Door, Lighting to ensure that adequate 

 machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations. 

 Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintain a repair log per USF policy. 

 Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, and maintain PM log with proper documentation, per USF policy. 

 Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safe work environment, etc.) 
Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries and other equipment contained therein. 

 Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area. 

If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties. 

 

What you bring to the table 

Education/Training: 

High School education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred. 

Related Experience/Requirements:  

A minimum of six months previous mechanic experience Preferred. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

Knowledge of equipment repair and operation 

able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment 

welding ability 

able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide); able to work with little direct supervision   

Computer knowledge required (Word, Excel, Outlook)  

Preferred Skills:  

Ability to read and understand vendor technical and repair manuals and wiring schematics, and P &ID’s.  >>> What is this?  Piping and instrumentation diagrams  

 Working knowledge of mechanics, electricity, carpentry, plumbing.  

 Ability to work with minimum supervision and under some pressure to meet deadlines.  

Must be able to work overtime when necessary.  

 Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at varying levels both within and outside the organization.  

Must be able to provide your own tools.  

Experience with CMMS (Maximo) preferred. 

Experience dealing with service supply vendors on scheduling and completing repairs.  

5years HVAC or Refrigeration experience Preferred.  

15 Fire systems Preferred.  

15 OSHA and PSM Experience Preferred
