**Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic**
**Job Description**
We have openings for 2nd and 3rd shift industrial mechanics in a food manufacturing environment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will maintain all plant equipment in proper operating condition by utilizing preventive maintenance programs, correct maintenance procedures, and safe workplace practices. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment needed to efficiently process products.
**Responsibilities**
+ Ensure optimal functioning of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing planned (preventative) and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment. Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
+ Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to ensure continued production operation.
+ Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on plant and production equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and maintain diverse equipment including motor controls, BFD, refrigeration, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers, and packaging equipment.
+ Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
+ Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards.
+ Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees to notify them of problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
+ Ensure paperwork is filled out completely, clearly, legibly, and accurately. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
+ Utilize a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve processes.
+ Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
+ Follow required safe work practices including lockout-tagout, wearing of required PPE in designated areas, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
**Essential Skills**
+ Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems
+ Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
+ Preventative maintenance
+ Maintenance technician experience
+ Experience in industrial equipment maintenance
+ PLC troubleshooting
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or GED preferred; formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired
+ Minimum of two years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry
+ Minimum of two years of experience with technical areas such as electrical, mechanical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, HVAC
+ Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred
+ Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and independently take corrective action
+ Ability to evaluate, repair, and operate production equipment
+ Skills in welding and using hand and power tools to repair and maintain equipment
+ Ability to accurately add, multiply, and divide in units of measure
+ Ability to read and follow directions
+ Computer and accurate data entry skills
+ Skilled operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts

**Work Environment**
Standard production environment with exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature changes, particularly if maintenance must be completed outdoors. Products manufactured in the facility may contain peanuts and tree nuts. Physical demands include operating machinery and repetitively grasping objects, using a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment. You will frequently be required to sit, climb, stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish color. You must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays, and correctly handle chemicals and dry materials with potential hazards.
