Maintenance Mechanic
**Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic** **Location: Melrose, IL** **Salary: $28-$35/hr** **Job Description:** Are you a skilled Maintenance Mechanic with a passion for keeping machines running smoothly? Join our dynamic team, where you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our state-of-the-art blow molding and injection molding equipment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and assisting with equipment overhauls and installations. You’ll be cross trained in both blow molding and injection molding, supporting process improvements and new technology initiatives to achieve our goals for safety, quality, and profitability. **Key Responsibilities:** + Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations. + Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping procedures. + Tend to a group of blow molding machines, specifically Uniloy and Bekum machines. + Conduct frequent quality checks on products, observing for deviations in weight, sidewall thickness, and flash, and making necessary adjustments. + Perform quality checks and analysis on products. + Monitor and adjust heat controls, cooling water temperatures, pressures, extruder, and hydraulic units. + Maintain various daily production and quality reports. + Troubleshoot processes and perform minor repairs on all machines and support equipment. + Monitor and adjust bottle processes to optimize quality and minimize scrap. + Perform mold and line changeovers. + Follow proper start-up and shutdown procedures as per company and machine requirements. + Assist with machine installation and cross-training technicians. **Additional Skills & Qualifications:** + High school diploma or GED with a two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program, or 5 years equivalent work-related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. + Ability to troubleshoot PLCs. + Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting 110v-480v single and 3 phase electrical systems and components. + Experience with 3 phase motors, AC/DC drives, fuses, relays, and switches. + Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics. + Ability to work in a “rougher” environment. **Employee Value Proposition (EVP):** + Comprehensive group benefit plan including medical, dental, and vision. + 401(k) plan with company match. + Short-term disability coverage. + Paid time off (holidays and PTO). + Laid-back work environment. **Work Environment:** + Facility with 14 blow molding machines and lines. + 35 production employees per shift with 3 maintenance personnel on each shift. + Well-lit and clean, but a “rougher” environment. **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day. + Ability to climb stairs occasionally. + Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. + Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects. + 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction. + Compliance with all safety standards and procedures. + Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently. + Occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending. + Ability to wear personal protective equipment. **Shift Schedule:** + 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule. **Reference Check Requirements:** + Previous supervisor. + Previous co-worker. + Previous or current professional relationship. + Join our team and be part of a company that values safety, quality, and innovation.
