Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic is primarily responsible for maintaining all building, utility and production equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide range of tasks, from routine inspections and preventive maintenance to troubleshooting.

Shift: 6 PM-6 AM (2-2-3 schedule)

The Role

Maintain all building, utility and production equipment in an orderly and efficient manner.

Perform necessary repairs to equipment and building as needed.

Perform preventative maintenance scheduled services for all equipment and enter date onto equipment records.

Monitor the boiler system including water chemical testing and addition chemical components and charging aged salt to the water softeners.

Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

HS Diploma or GED required

An associate degree or vocational certificate in related field is preferred. 1+ years experience in a pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing environment in a maintenance mechanic position is also preferred.  Prior experience with a preventative maintenance program for production, utility and building systems including keeping equipment records. 

Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electronic control systems and PLC based systems utilizing equipment schematics and specialized testing equipment

Familiar with use and operation of test equipment such as digital voltmeter, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators 

Knowledgeable with servicing and operating building utility equipment such as boilers, air compressors chillers, etc

Must have the ability to use hand and power tools

Must be able to use various electrical testing equipment, such as, ammeters, voltmeters, temperature probes, and pneumatic calibrators

Must be familiar with and possess the ability to read, understand and use electrical drawings, system drawings and panel layout sheets, as well as wiring diagrams

Items including tools and lab equipment (1 to 15 lbs.), larger scale pieces of equipment involving multiple personnel for lift (>50 lbs)

Kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting and other static postures required to be positioned in optimal placement for performing maintenance tasks

Overhead reach, pushing, pulling and handheld tool use

Compound tasks including but not limited to sustained posture with overhead reach in concert with tool use
