Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for completing assigned maintenance duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. This role involves performing onsite maintenance for production equipment by completing breakdown and preventative maintenance on all filling, packaging, processing, and palletizing equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and replace industrial equipment in a fast-paced production environment, supporting the manufacture of dairy-related products.
ResponsibilitiesAchieve assigned goals in the area of maintenance, safety, quality, performance, and cost.Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities, including disassembling and reassembling machinery, overhauling gearboxes, and replacing bearings/bushings/etc.Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or piece of equipment.Expedite the reentry of down equipment within a manufacturing environment to working condition.Repair and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies.Test the performance of electro-mechanical assemblies using test instruments such as multi-meters, volt, and amp meters.Install electronic parts and hardware using soldering equipment and hand-tools.Operate, test, program, and maintain complete manufacturing lines such as beverage filling machines, conveyors, and palletizers.Source parts from vendors when parts are unavailable or have long lead times; order parts in a timely manner to ensure equipment reliability.Maintain Maintenance Inventory System to ensure accurate inventories.Communicate effectively between shifts and other departments, including status of equipment to supervisors/co-workers at the end of the shift, as well as log book documentation.Comply with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.Follow OEM manuals and execute accurate and precise procedures according to those manuals.Provide assistance and support to all areas in the production facility as assigned by supervisor/lead.Gain competence on line circuits and ensure proper hookups are made in the facility.Report food safety problems and initiate action, supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.Ensure work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices.Essential SkillsTroubleshootingMaintenance technicianRepair & overhaulElectromechanical assemblyPreventative/corrective maintenancePLC controlPneumaticsHydraulicsAdditional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of GED or High School Diploma3-5 years' experience within a mechanical automation fieldTechnical trade, military training, or technical college strongly preferredExperience with VFD's, stretch or blow molding, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic sanitary valves, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systemsExperience with PLCs, instruments, and controlsExperience with closed cooling systems including evaporator towers, water cooling towers, and chillersExperience working in a food manufacturing environment preferredHVAC experience is a plusWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is normally protected from weather and temperature changes, though there may be exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions. You may also be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacturing of food products, including allergens, and chemicals involved in the manufacturing and sanitation of a food processing facility.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
