Maintenance Mechanic
**Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic** **Job Description** Responsibilities include repairing, installing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, building, and facilities. The qualified candidate will quickly respond to production line calls to keep production personnel informed about the status of machinery and repairs. The candidate will operate and observe machinery to test performance while troubleshooting and repairing production department electrical equipment. **Responsibilities** + Repair, install, and maintain equipment, machinery, building, and facilities. + Quickly respond to production line calls to inform production personnel about machinery status and repairs. + Operate and observe machinery to test performance while troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment. + Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication as needed. + Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery. + Follow the Preventative Maintenance Program. + Ensure plant machinery operates at peak efficiency. + Assist in training maintenance/engineering personnel on plant equipment. + Complete requests for repairs and installations with minimal interference to production operations. + Support the company's mission, vision, strategic plan, goals, and management decisions. + Maintain a strong commitment to the global food safety initiative. + Follow and understand standards for food safety and food quality production. + Adhere to Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). + Report any potential contamination and suspicious activity to a supervisor or manager immediately. + Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. + Work directly with the maintenance manager and other mechanics to troubleshoot and repair equipment and infrastructure. + Evaluate and recommend improvements in methods, procedures, and processes. **Essential Skills** + 2 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry. + 1 year of experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC. + 1 year of experience with lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Knowledge of basic electrical, mathematical, mechanical, and plumbing skills. + Ability to properly use a forklift when trained and certified. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in food production and food manufacturing. + Experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. + Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation, robotics, conveyor maintenance, and PLC control. + Commitment to supporting the company's mission and strategic goals. **Why Work Here?** This company has been around for over 100 years and offers opportunities to grow and advance within the organization. The schedule includes a 2nd shift: Monday - Friday from 2 PM - 10 PM, with initial training on the 1st shift: 5 AM - 1 PM (flexible depending on circumstances). The dress code requires clean jeans, a T-shirt, and work boots. Absolutely no jewelry, sleeveless shirts, or nail polish are allowed. Uniforms will be provided once the employee goes permanent. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, New York. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
