Job Description
The Equipment Mechanic will conduct various repair and maintenance activities for our HQ and Cold Brew facilities, ensuring smooth operations with minimal disruptions or downtime. Reporting to the Facilities and Equipment Manager, this role will be responsible for maintaining process and procedures, equipment and facility preventative maintenance schedules, efficiency metrics, and vendor networks. The mechanic will handle repairs and maintenance of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, either through hands-on expertise or by partnering with third-party service providers as appropriate.
ResponsibilitiesExecute programs and processes related to equipment maintenance and best practices on preventative maintenance.Achieve productivity metrics (downtime, capacity, output, etc.) and improvements over time.Provide repairs and improvements to facilities and equipment including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.Partner with Manager and Operations team to enhance Preventive Maintenance systems and procedures on all equipment; execute activities according to the maintenance schedule.Respond promptly to all service requests with a high level of internal customer service.Assist equipment operators to improve line efficiency.Perform all duties in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety guidelines.Maintain communication and relationships with multiple third-party service providers.Install, assemble, and test new and existing production machinery and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations.Monitor, identify, and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery.Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing of machinery.Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment.Read and interpret equipment manuals.Plan, organize, and maintain equipment and records.Perform duties effectively in a diverse teamwork environment.Essential SkillsTroubleshootingMaintenance technician experienceElectrical and mechanical skillsExperience with pneumatics and preventive maintenanceExperience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a food production environmentUnderstanding of mechanical, PLC, pneumatics, and conveyor systemsRepair skillsHydraulicsWeldingAbility to read schematicsForklift operationAdditional Skills & Qualifications2 years of experience in maintaining, repairing, overhauling, and troubleshooting processing, packaging, and material handling equipment in a manufacturing environmentAbility to assess mechanical problems, make recommendations, communicate effectively, and resolve issues quickly while working under pressureExperience troubleshooting PLCs and controls instrumentation (limited)Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience preferredBasic computer skills - able to navigate email, MS D365, Google, and Microsoft SuitesExperience with operating and maintaining mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and pneumatic systemsUnderstanding of OSHA regulations and experience working in SQF and GMP regulated food environments preferredValid driver's license required for operating company truck/van to go from building to buildingWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
Portland-based company with a local Portland vibe. Relaxed and employee-forward environment. Dress code includes jeans, shorts, kind words, and caring questions. Coffee Roasting and Cold Brew facility. Manufacturing environment. Maintenance office/shop access. Two levels of production floor as well as work required on the roof of the facility. Three locations in the Portland area that require travel.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00
