Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The Maintenance Mechanic will receive work assignments from the Maintenance Team Leader and will be responsible for setting a high standard of demonstrated concern and performance of safe work practices according to the plant and industry safety standards. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing major mechanical breakdowns of production and plant equipment, providing preventive maintenance service to scheduled equipment, and ensuring that all work is recorded and reported in the established system.

ResponsibilitiesReceive work assignments from the Maintenance Team Leader.Set a high standard of demonstrated concern and performance of safe work practices according to the plant and industry safety standards.Answer calls for mechanic as directed by the Maintenance Team Leader and dictated by daily priority list.Troubleshoot and repair major mechanical breakdowns of production and plant equipment.Provide proper follow-up to ensure problems are fixed and do not re-occur.Provide preventive maintenance service to scheduled equipment.Record and report all work in the established system.Perform listed project work designated by the Maintenance Team Leader when not answering calls.Repair any defective items removed from equipment as bench work.Ensure all parts used are checked out and reordered.Research additional information for parts ordering if necessary.Contact outside sources to help diagnose problems when necessary.Review daily work history with mechanics on the next shift.Make an effort to cut costs through substitution of components and elimination of troublesome components.Assist all plant personnel in understanding the correct operation of equipment.Look for ways to improve current equipment and components to reduce costs.Assist other mechanics or electricians in repair activities and learn departmental procedures.Submit pertinent information on machine breakdown on a Work Order.Ensure all work performed is recorded in the established system.Essential SkillsTwo-year Vocational School training or equivalent on-the-job training required.Strong understanding of the SSA system.Ability to work cooperatively with others.Ability to convert from the metric system to American standard, work with ratios, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.Self-motivated with a high level of self-initiative.Capable of reading calipers and micrometers and proper use of them.Strong understanding of mechanical drives, belts, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, and chains, both metric and standard.Good communication skills (oral, reading, and writing).Good mechanical aptitude, ability, and knowledge.Able to perform precision work with close tolerance levels on all shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, surface grinder, welder).Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and controls.Good understanding of machine process control, along with timing and basic settings of the plant's equipment.2+ years as a Mechanic 'B' position or equivalent knowledge/experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsSSA Maintenance Department Software.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The facility can hold up to 375 million books, mainly printing hard and soft cover books. It is a large facility with many conveyor systems to be worked on and troubleshooted. The shift is a swing shift on a 2-2-3 schedule: 7pm-7am for 9 weeks, then 7am-7pm for 9 weeks, and so on. Training will be on the 7am-7pm schedule for a few weeks.

This is a Permanent position based out of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00
