**Maintenance Mechanic**
**Job Description**
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will collaborate closely with maintenance, tool room, quality control, and other production team members, including Automation Specialists, Technicians, Engineers, Vendors, and suppliers. You will work autonomously to repair highly complex electrical and mechanical equipment and will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing issues to ensure smooth operations.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work autonomously while repairing highly complex electrical and mechanical equipment, describing symptoms to vendors and carrying out suggested repairs.
+ Collaborate with Supervisors and Leads to get faulted equipment back online by any means necessary, including calling vendors and acquiring additional resources or technical help.
+ Connect and establish communication with PLC processors and interrupt ladder logic programs to isolate, diagnose, and repair machine problems.
+ Perform operations necessary to repair machinery or equipment, including arc or gas welding, soldering, silver soldering, torch welding, drilling, and tapping.
+ Replace bearings, shafts, gears, pins, and keys.
+ Run all equipment in the machine shop and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate test equipment.
+ Weld and build steel tables, brackets, extensions, oilers, safety gates, etc., to be added to machinery.
+ Determine if repairs can be made or if service technicians must be called in.
+ Analyze and diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems using schematics and physically trace circuits if schematics are not available.
+ Plan, layout, and install circuits and distribution equipment in accordance with all applicable codes.
+ Fabricate, install, and/or repair electrical systems on production equipment while working from drawings and schematics.
+ Locate trouble-causing malfunctions, dismantle machines, replace broken or worn parts, and reassemble machines.
+ Repair, maintain, and assemble safety guards, motors, relays, starters, lighting, ejection, feeding, pumping, and other attachments.
+ Move heavy equipment and machinery within the plant area.
+ Take extraordinary responsibility for safety and housekeeping, repairing or reporting any safety discrepancies immediately.
+ Perform required electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance on equipment.
+ Take initiative to respond to any discrepancies, initiating engineering contacts for problem resolution and contacting vendors for technical assistance, parts availability, and preparing purchase requisitions.
+ Rebuild hydraulic valves, cylinders, and pumps.
+ Run appropriate plumbing (water and air) and electrical service to new or relocated equipment.
**Essential Skills**
+ Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude.
+ Outstanding troubleshooting skills and analytical ability.
+ Knowledge of all types of welding, brazing, and soldering.
+ Ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical blueprints.
+ Demonstrated high level of initiative.
+ Ability to see the job through to completion without relying on others.
+ Proper use of all equipment and tools.
+ Ability to troubleshoot probable causes of machine malfunctions.
+ Ability to read and write English and perform simple arithmetic.
+ Ability to perform safely at all times.
+ Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in production, welding, schematic reading, hand tools, forklift operation, and fabrication.

**Work Environment**
This position requires working in a non-climate controlled, loud, and dirty machine shop environment. Shifts available are 2nd and 3rd (9:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denison, Texas
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.90/hr.
